Here are some of our frequently asked questions, if you have any others, don't hesitate to get in touch.
No we don't however we can help put you in touch with some golf tour operators (agents) that can.
Scotland has 5 distinct golf regions - pick two and don't get greedy.
1. South West (Turnberry, Royal Troon, Prestwick)
2. South East (North Berwick, Muirfield, Gullane)
3. St Andrews
4. North East (Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen, Carnoustie)
5. Highlands (Royal Dornoch, Cabot Highlands, Brora)
North Berwick's West Links encapsulates everything that is special about Scottish links golf. History, great course design that create memorable shots/ holes, all in an incredible setting.
Notable mentions to Machrihanish Old Course, Royal Dornoch, Castle Stuart and my home course Cruden Bay!
St Andrews is a public golf course and offers various routes to securing a tee time.
1. Contact a preferred golf tour operator (agent) and purchase a guaranteed Old Course, St Andrews tee time at a premium. This will include a number of other St Andrews golf courses and accomodation.
2. St Andrews Links Trust Advanced Ballot. This usually opens in August of the previous year of travel.
3. St Andrews Links Trust Daily Ballot. Enter by 2pm two days before you hope to play. Must be a minimum of two players and success rate is less than 15%.
Single golfers can use the Singles Ballot on the same timeline as above. Note that St Andrews Links no longer encourage the Singles Queue.
The booking windows are getting longer and longer now which is a good thing! For some of the most in demand courses like Royal Dornoch or North Berwick, early spring, 18 months prior to a trip is recommended.
If time is a luxury or you're travelling in groups of 8+, using the services of a golf travel agent is recommended.
All aspects of a Scottish golf trip can be arranged directly with golf courses, hotels and transport providers however it does require time.
